International Outreach

The epidemic of skin cancer sweeps not only the United States but the entire world. The Foundation's public education programs serve as a stimulus to organizations devoted to skin cancer in many countries.

The Foundation's efforts are greatly enhanced by its International Advisory Council. Council members serve as advisors and representatives on the International Alliance Against Skin Cancer, a worldwide coalition of health organizations, medical institutions and professional societies. Its objectives are to urge public health officials throughout the world to place skin cancer education high on their agendas; to be a catalyst for partnerships among the media, pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies, public health organizations and educators; and to conduct and co-sponsor conferences.

Special attention is paid to the health care system and issues facing the host country. More informal roundtable discussions give dermatologists an opportunity to discuss key issues in treatment, difficult or unusual cases, and highlight success stories.
