The Tour made a two-day stop at the Harbor Shops in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This was a great location — a perfect mall mix of “everyday” stores as well as several salons, spas, small boutique-style shops and restaurants. This weekend, the Harbour Shops were definitely a one-stop shop for everything, including a free skin cancer screening.
Our generator problems continued. Since we couldn’t service it on the weekend but wanted to continue the screenings, to conserve energy we used the lights but did not run the air conditioning. This meant that it was very hot inside, but fortunately, the doctors were understanding and simply carried on! During the two days that we were there, Brent Schillinger, MD, Kathryn Zeoli, MD, Valentina Bradley, MD, and Lesley Clark-Loeser, MD, screened 110 people in eight hours and identified 67 suspected skin precancers, 16 suspected basal cell carcinomas, five suspected squamous cell carcinomas, and suspected melanoma!
We really appreciated their efforts, especially since we had such a great turnout. We were very fortunate to have such a great team with us.
