We got very excited when we spotted today’s location in the Five Points area of Union, NJ. It was fantastic—the Rite Aid was situated by a very busy intersection and no matter which way the cars headed, you couldn’t miss our giant yellow RV! In fact, you could say that the success of today’s event was due to the RV’s colorful graphics and messaging. While there was a sign at the store, we were amazed by the number of people who told us that they simply saw the RV and stopped for a screening.
Emily Altman, MD, volunteered today, and during today’s 34 screenings, she detected five suspected skin precancers, five suspected basal cell carcinomas, and one suspected squamous cell carcinoma. This was the first time Dr. Altman participated in the Tour and she told us she was excited to be involved with such a great cause. In fact, she’s ready to return next year.
