Who We Are

Meet The Skin Cancer Foundation

Since 1979, The Skin Cancer Foundation has made tremendous strides in helping people understand the importance of skin cancer prevention, early detection and prompt, effective treatment. We couldn’t do it without the collaboration and dedication of many talented individuals and entities, including:

  • Our staff, who care deeply about our mission and work tirelessly to make a difference.
  • Our officers and directors, who help us uphold the highest standards.
  • Our physician members, who provide their support and expertise.
  • Our corporate partners and sponsors, who make our projects and campaigns possible.
  • The millions of people who use our educational information to spread the word about skin cancer.
  • The donors who make our work possible.

Photobiology Committee

Scientific data for each product submitted for The Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation is rigorously reviewed by a volunteer committee of photobiologists – experts in the study of the interaction of ultraviolet radiation and the skin. It is their expertise and credibility in the field that make the Seal of Recommendation a trusted and valuable resource for consumers. The committee must be completely satisfied with the testing results for a product to be granted the Seal.

Corporate Council

Our Corporate Council is a group of approximately 100 U.S. and international companies that have made a commitment to The Skin Cancer Foundation. Corporate Council members help support the Foundation’s work, which empowers people to take a proactive approach to daily sun protection and the early detection and treatment of skin cancer.

For 40 years, The Skin Cancer Foundation’s initiatives, leadership, education and programs have opened people’s eyes, led to change and saved lives. Skin cancer takes decades to develop, though, and cases are still on the rise. We have much work to do until we can eliminate deaths and ease suffering caused by the world’s most common cancer. Support by committed corporations can help us reach that goal — and help satisfy corporate social responsibility goals. We are proud of our Corporate Council and the many long-term, ongoing relationships we have nurtured within it, some since the program began in 1981.

See who is on our Corporate Council.
