The Skin Cancer Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of information you provide us with. This Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy (“WA Privacy Policy”) supplements the Foundation’s Privacy Notice available at SkinCancer.org/privacy.
This WA Privacy Policy applies only to Washington consumers who participate in a skin cancer screening through our Destination Healthy Skin program or who provide consumer health data when contacting the Foundation or visiting our website.
For the purpose of this WA Privacy Policy, “consumer health data” means personal information about 1) a Washington resident or that is collected in the state of Washington; and 2) that is linked or is reasonably linkable to a consumer and that identifies the consumer’s past, present or further physical or mental health status. Consumer health data may include:
- Individual health conditions, treatments, diseases or diagnoses
- Social, psychological, behavioral and medical interventions
- Health-related surgeries or procedures
- Use or purchase of prescribed medication
- Bodily functions, vital signs, symptoms or measurements of information described as health status
- Diagnoses or diagnostic testing, treatment or medication
- Gender affirming care
- Reproductive or sexual health information
- Biometric data
- Precise location information that could reasonably indicate a consumer’s attempt to acquire or receive health services or supplies
- Data that identifies a consumer seeking health care services
- Any information that is used to associate a consumer with information about health status and that is derived or extrapolated from non-health data.
This WA Privacy Policy describes the consumer health data we collect, how we use and disclose that data, how we protect it, and the choices you may have regarding our use or disclosure of your consumer health data.
Consumer Health Data We Collect
When you engage with the Foundation in person or on our websites we collect a variety of information. The type of information we collect depends upon the nature of the interaction.
We may collect consumer health data, as defined above, that you voluntarily provide. For example, we may collect consumer health data that you submit on a form, if you participate in a skin cancer screening through our Destination Healthy Skin program or call or email the Foundation.
How We Use Consumer Health Data
We may use your consumer health data for the following purposes:
- To conduct your skin cancer screening
- To deliver the type of content that may be of interest to you.
- To respond to your requests and provide information, including tailored content.
- For testing, research, analysis and development related to our website, which may include identifying usage trends, and determining the effectiveness of our communications.
- To operate, evaluate and improve our programs, products and services.
- For data analytics; accounting, auditing and other internal functions.
- As necessary or appropriate to protect against fraudulent, illegal or unethical activity.
- To comply with applicable legal requirements, relevant industry standards, contractual obligations and our policies.
- To perform the original purpose for which the personal information was collected, and for any other purposes that we may specifically disclose at the time you provide or we collect your information.
As permissible under applicable laws and regulations, we may also use consumer health data on an aggregate or anonymous basis for various purposes to help deliver services and content that are better tailored to the users of our services and for other purposes.
The Foundation does not rent or sell consumer health data.
How We Share Consumer Health Data
If you participate in a skin cancer screening through Destination Healthy Skin, we may share your consumer health data with the volunteer medical professional who conducts your screening.
We may also share your consumer health data with third parties as follows:
- With your consent.

To vendors we engage to provide services on our behalf such as credit card processors, website host and analytics providers.
- To vendors for the purpose of providing customer support or fulfilling orders placed through our store.
Individual Rights
As a Washington consumer, you have the right to:
- Request access to your consumer health data
- Confirm whether we have disclosed or sold your consumer health data and to obtain a list of any recipients.
- Delete your consumer health data
- Withdraw your consent or authorization relating to your consumer health data.
In addition, if we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal.
Please contact us as provided below to exercise your rights or to appeal any decision.
Changes to this WA Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to change this WA Privacy Policy at any time. As organizational needs change, we will review our practices regarding the collection and use of consumer health data and amend this WA Privacy Policy as appropriate. We will notify users of any changes by posting the revised Policy on our website.
